Congrats...it takes a while to get used to. I
took one out for a test run in the Sony

Yeah -- my advice:
Turn the NR down or off when you get it (no
need having it turned up unless you need it),
but do turn it on if you are shooting low
light
Turn off DRO unless your in a situation
with a lot of light and a lot of shadow -- it
works amazing in situations where you need it
(like that photo above -- check out how
detailed the shadow under her hat came out
against the bright spot on her face below
it). Also, try turning DRO to +3 and shoot a
landscape shot on a sunny day, and see what
it does. Very cool feature.

WAAAWI..What a sharp image!
I have a 5D and I was thinking about
switching over to the new Canon 40D, but
after seeing this image, I am convinced....I
will go for the Sony A700!

This one is nice. Im used to good qualty
pictures, using Leica for long time. The
qualty of Carl Zeiss never fail. At least not
on the one´s from Sony. I got my hand´s Carl
Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* DT 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5
Zoom and love it.

Hey thanks! I agree - Sony now has some of
the industry's best camera lenses --
especially the newer Zeiss lenses and the
G-series professional lenses they inherited
from Minolta.

This is a fantastic shot. The bokeh does an
excellent job of highlighting the subject ---
a very cute police officer (that could likely
kick my butt!!!).
:o) Awesome!
I own a Maxxum 7 (NOT 7D) and I love how
the controls resemble the A700's. I was, at
first, a little put off by the A100's layout
(I never shot a 5D - only a Maxxum 5) but I
quickly grew accustomed and I'm now a true
Sony DSLR enthusiast, especially after this
upgrade!

Great shot. Happy to hear you A700 works well
for you. I like mine more than A100 mainly
for the placement of the controls and quiet
shutter. I don't see a huge improvement in
the image quality over the A100 which is very
good but I've only had it 3 weeks time will
time.:)
