100 things about me.

One of the things I love best about photography is how it has wildly changed my perceptions of myself. I used to avoid going out in the rain, much preferring to read a book or dance or do something indoorsy. I didn't like getting wet. I really liked to hike, but it wasn't a passion. I sure never thought I could get half the things out of a camera as I've since done. I stand in the middle of rivers now. I get wet on purpose. Heck, I love every second of it. It's great! Photography has proved me wrong about myself so many times now that I can't help thinking it's one of the best things that's ever happened to me.

Here are some of my all-time favorite pictures. I take a lot of pictures, but I'm selective in what I share. I'm in total agreement with the photographers who talk about a few pictures out of every shoot being what they want, and the rest are practice. It's all fun. Play. Why do it if it isn't fun? The second it stops being fun, I'll find something else to do or give myself a sound shaking.

My cameras are a Canon 40D, Canon 300D, Pentax MX (usually loaded with Fuji Velvia), Holga, Lomo Fisheye, and a Canon point-and-shoot (where I first used Manual settings). My favorite toys are my Lensbaby 2.0 and my Hoya ND400 filter--a 9-stop ND. I believe digital and film are simply two ways to approach photography, much like oils and acrylics to a painter. To me, one isn't better than the other--they both have virtues. I also believe there is no right and wrong with photography, and we should be tolerant, helpful and supportive of anyone who takes on this crazy art.

A huge thank-you to all my Flickr friends--you guys are all extremely talented and I take daily inspiration from all of you. Thanks also for all the absolutely fantastic comments. Every one of them means a lot to me.

If you're interested in prints, please feel free to drop me a line. I'd be more than happy to oblige.

I'm Female and Taken.
