"Most beautiful" is definitely in the eye of the beholder...
Why limit it to just Germany, Japan and USA? I've seen great stuff going on in France, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, etc....

yup - I can't speak for the whole of Spain, but I've never seen as gorgeous graffiti as in Barcelona - much nicer than NYC or Berlin!
Not to mention the fantastic graff in Bristol and other cities in the UK!

Saying which City has the best graffiti is like saying who your favorite graffiti artist is, I like to many to name, I'm From California so I'm around the Los Angeles scene the most, but I like graffiti artists from all over the World... From the San Francisco Bay to Zimbabwe....Besides most well known artists travel the globe and paint in several different cities, are we supposed to give credit only when they paint in they're own cities or what

Graffitti is by nature, hardly permanent. How about for the moment, not all time... my favorite is Granada, Spain. I live in the U.S, have traveled in North, South America and much of western Europe, but a recent trip to Spain had me all twitchy looking at the cool expressions of art.

Um, just cuz something is painted with spraypaint doesn't particularly make it graff, and as for seeing your photostream, and reading you compare graff to "smearing" kinda has me agreeing with .
Also The Comment About it being "Quality" is sorta condescending, which is probably the main reason I don't agree with you. If there was one letter anywhere in that fLIck, maybe, maybe ,maybe someone that writes might agree with you. The fact that there are characters,(Most def Graffiti) that may turn the coin, although this is much more Artsy than Graff-like. Also on this pic in your stream, there isn't one graff artist that calls this Graffiti, although other people who don't seem to be involved with graff do call it that. Well That Is No Proof At All.
Yakity Yak, I'm yappn again: you got awesome fLIcks on your stream regardless!!
And My Vote Is For The USA, probably the E/W coasts

the two images in this blog are murals not graffiti. murals typically are commissioned work, while graffiti is not about money. murals can be done during the day with permits. graffiti thrives on not needing permits or boundaries. not everything that is painted on a wall with spray paint can be called graffiti.
graffiti and muralists are both great artists, but one breaks the law. most good graffiti artists who make it big in the art world like banksy, twist (aka barry mcgee), doze green, dalek etc, all become muralist to some degree in the end.

aye, arts universal, don't think there's a certain place where it's the best... Stuff that loomit's done legally is just as inspiring and creative as his earlier stuff. The difference obviously to when one paints a wall at night vs a commissioned factory building wall for a new nightclub is immense though, being able to paint at day in daylight with scaffolding etc is different to your nightly bomber raid.
But looking at the big names out there most of them do alot of travel and collabs these days, so there imo is really no place that's best, you can find many peoples work in many different countries these days...

This thread is kinda part of the age old where does Graffitti and street art start and stop. After all beauty is in the eye of the beholder! A well placed throw or tag can be very effective all depending on the general enviroment.

Hi from a "newbie",
I'm of the mind that 'true' graffiti is of the illegal kind, and usually tagged by it's 'artist'. A lot of those aren't very colorful, but of the one's that are, I have to say that there are some gifted artists out there who should channel their obsession into something profitable.
Some do, but of those who don't, they're missing something. I have only 2 pics of 'commissioned' graffiti, where the artists were paid to paint the wall.
As to which country has the most 'beautiful', again it's a personal thing and a point that could be argued about from now 'til Doomsday.
For what it's worth though, I've seen some pretty impressive stuff in Germany, but then, I'm not very widely travelled.
The 2 pics from 'endraum' and 'ifou331' look really impressive and colorful.

montreal est assez bien pourvu.
je pense que plutot qu en terme
de pays ( trop vaste, trop flou ),
il faudrait résonner en terme
de villes, voire meme d'arrondis-
sements, ou de quartiers !
sorry for having express it in french.

I guess the topic would be more fair if not with those four options only...there's good graff in some many countries that it's hard to say who's best.
Many talk due to his personal experience and living in Portugal I can say we have good quality here. But I guess at this point Spain and France are two of the most active and advanced graff countries in the World.
USA will be always present due to his history...it's quite hard to separate history from the actual scene, but anyway what matters is the amazing growing of the graff culture in every city of any country.

New to group. Loved graffiti as a child.
The best: the trains of the US, as they move from place to place the graffiti changes, the artists blend with others from states far away. It is moving art, it is flux, it is graffiti.

Well, I would say eastern Europe, Spain, France and some parts of Greece when it comes to the most creative stuff. This goes for Sao Paolo as well! For trains it has to be Italy. There is not much graffiti in Japan, and the graffiti in germany is not as fresh as it used to be. The US seems stuck in old habits when it comes to the big walls and stuff like that, but the tagging scene (and street-art scene in NY) is quite good. Los Angeles has a fair amount of great graffiti writers as well.

I think a lot of people who think they like "graffiti" have no idea what graffiti is. They actually like murals and maybe the occasional non- threatening wildstyle burner...but only after a couple of glasses of wine.

Does Graffiti have to be the same to all?
No! Art is a expression and a expression is not a fact, so what ever you think as Graffiti is, it might as well be art to you.
I would say that the best Graffiti is in the Bronx, USA

I think there are 3
First of all, I would sau the USA because it's an old graffiti country. Because there are various styles.
Then there are two country with their own styles I like the most . Sweden, ir's a dynamyc moove in their graffiti. Then, last but not least, France is a real graffiti country. It's the country wich made his own style and it's wonderful. For example, lightgraff is owned by the French (even if they didn't create it).
Here are the country I like about graffiti.

I'm not sure beauty and graffiti necessarily go hand in hand, especially since beauty is a matter of opinion...
Maybe the question we need to be asking is "Which country has the richest/liveliest/most innovative scene?"
And USA (or at least nyc & philly) will always deserve an honorary mention, seeing as how we founded the movement in its present form.

I would say USA(Founders), after that Its a Close Race Germany got the FX crew the Originators of 3D, The French are dope, Spanish writers are amazing, Brazil has a Some dope writers, Some of the Best writers are from the Netherlands(The Great Bates and a couple of handful of writers). Even London has had some dope writers in their hay day. The Australians... All these countries are close sedonds and thirds...Too many Dope writers and too vague of a Question...So many styles, techniques, the era you grew up in, all will have an affect on the outcome of this Q.
